‎Two persons yesterday sustained serious injuries as a petrol tanker hit the patrol van of the Police on Akure/Ilesa express road.
The accident, which occurred at the Owena end of the road caused serious traffic conjestion on the busy road.

An eye witness told DAILY POST that the accident occurred at 3.00pm, adding that the accident was caused by high speed of the tanker
driver.

It was gathered that the driver of the tanker took to his heels as soon as the accident occurred apparently for fear of being arrested.

The two vehicles, according to the eye witness entered into a ditch along the road.

Residents of the area and Police officers were seen at the scene of the accident trying to pick up the patrol van from the ditch when our correspondent visited the scene.

It was not certain whether or not those injured in the accident were Police Officers, as their identities could not be ascertained.

Officers of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) were yet to arrive the scene of the accident as at the time of filing this report, but it was learnt that they had been informed of the accident.‎
