In his first public outing since he handed over on May 29, 2015 former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, on Tuesday attended the re-election campaign rally of Governor Seriake Dickson at the Samson Siasia Sports complex in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The ex-president, who endorsed Mr. Dickson's re-election bid, said the governor remains the best candidate for the job and urged the people to support him for a second term.

Also speaking at the event, the governor expressed appreciation to Mr. Jonathan for endorsing him for a second term, adding that the rally marked the official commencement of campaigns.

According to Dickson, Bayelsa was a predominantly a Peoples Democratic Party state, having produced the state's four governors in the last 16 years, adding that the All Progressives Congress stands no chance in the state.

"They in APC have no message for the people, they will lose and we will win. They boast that they have police and INEC, but we have you, do not be misled by their propaganda", said Mr. Jonathan.

The former president urged the federal government and its agencies to be professional in their duties to ensure a peaceful poll devoid of violence.

Gov. Dickson also boasted that PDP has a concrete record of performance and pledged to run an issue-based campaign in the run up to the December 5 gubernatorial elections in the state.

Dickson's re-election campaign was attended by Governors Olusegun Mimiko and Nyesom Wike of Ondo and Rivers State respectively as well as several deputy governors.
