UNILORIN Graduates 64 New Medical Doctors To Make It 4,062 Medical Doctors In 32 years

The University of Ilorin has graduated 64 new medical doctors to bring its total output to 4,062 in in 32 years.

Sixty-four new medical doctors graduated from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)College of Health Sciences have been inducted into the medical profession, Daily Trust reports.

Speaking at the 31st professional initiation and admission ceremony the College Provost, Professor Wahab Johnson, said the 2015 set brings the number of doctors the university has graduated in 32 years to 4,062.

Johnson revealed that 118 students started the programmes and 54 were either withdrawn or made to repeat.

The Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN, ProfessorAbdulganiyu Ambali, said the institution is proud of the new graduates.

He also expressed confidence in the new doctors' ability to improve healthcare in the Nigeria and the world.

"As part of its mandate, the university is also proud of adding these bright young men and women to the pool of healthcare delivery system needed in our country and the world," Ambali said.

The Vice Chancellor urged the new doctors to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties and keep learning because their profession requires "life-long learning and service".

"On the basis of the foregoing, you should avail yourselves of more learning and training opportunities in order to live more and enliven more."

Student Pulse gathered that the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) administered Hippocratic Oath on the graduands.
