According to World Health Organization (WHO) about 16 million girls aged 15 to 19 and some one (1) million girls under 15 give birth every year—most in low- and middle-income countries. Also In July 2013, the National Population Commission (NPC) has disclosed that the occurrence of teenage pregnancy in the country might increase to over sixty million by the year 2015.
An alarming number of children are orphaned by teenage pregnancy in the state. This prompted enthusiasm and exceptional youths to organise this symposium to create awareness to teenagers and the general public on the effects of teenage pregnancy in our society and ways to reduce the incidence.
Kwara Active Citizens in Collaboration with Save A Child Mission Nigeria would like to request the presence and participation at a symposium themed "TACKLE TEENAGE PREGNANCY: let's reduce the number of orphans and homeless children" the symposium will also serve as an avenue to raise funds (not necessarily financial) for Kwara State Children Reception Centre (A HOME FOR THE NEEDY.
