AS the nation prepares for the general election, the choice of candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Owo state constituency 1 has continued to generate ripples as the people of the community have raised questions over the qualification of one of the claimants to the ticket, Adesola Olagbegi.
The people, under the aegis of Concerned Citizens of Owo, alleged that the PDP chieftain had failed to meet the constitutional requirement of the party on resignation before contesting.
A statement by the coordinator of the group, Ojo Ogundele, in Akure, on Thursday, said Olagbegi did not resign his appointment before vying for the ticket of the party.
It said Olagbegi, a Regional Manager of one of the first generation banks in the state, flouted the guideline of the party which stipulates that aspirants must resign 30 days before the primary election.
But in his reaction to the allegation, Olagbegi said he was no longer in the employment of the bank as he had since resigned.
He said those raising the allegation did not conduct their research very well, arguing that only political appointees or public servants are required to resign before contesting election.
