Opinion| Ekiti; Fayose Must Hear This - Maxwell Adegbenro

Call this gossip all I care, there is a government that pride herself therein. I didn't imagine I could retrieve my dossier for appealing facts and words about Ekiti time soon. We, now, have the government of the people, nourished by the people and guided by the people to suffice.

Ekiti, the knowledge flowing hood is un-arguably in mixed political perception arising from the derivative belief of the major fraction/group of people 'son of the soil' under the nomenclature "elite" that the state has been returned to her dirk taste.

The appearance of Mr Ayodele Fayose may desecrates the standard these elites projected for Ekiti having survived the damage of preceding governments. Kayode Fayemi was another Governor that stood firm against giving Ekiti another bad name in print though, events of politics are paraded recipe of the robbers. That is one of the despotic lessons of Nigeria politics.

In a phone conversation with a friend back home, Boyede Ogunremi Peter. The young lad is versatile with influences, thorough by his bare hands. Boye, refreshes a good memory of my proud friends that doesn't believe in politics. When some of us (student activists and writers) were busy casting out the odds and going for the formidable even. He was gladly fitted to blow beyond his talent hunt idea. Today, his ambition had drawn him closer to politics. It is hempstead time though. When Ekiti is relishing the loss of a dear servant.

Boyede and I don't often talk because we share diverse position and belief about politics but when we do, is always a long conversation.

This time, my dear friend as usual brought to my knowledge the treading statement of
Governor Ayodele Fayose promising to visits brothels hub and beer parlours to connects more with the people that ousted Fayemi for his advantage.

I laughed, laughed and had my head banged.

I didn't know when the thought of wasteful four years reflected me. I thought of how dangerous the consequence will effect nothing impulse on our people. And I said to myself, when will this man resume work again?

Then again, I said what are his manifestos? Shameful, I couldn't dangle on any. There I realise this could be more than wasteful.

Somehow, I remember Dr Kayode Fayemi must have left a hand-over note on his table since governance is continuous. But, defeating and rigid Fayose may ignore. Well, I should prepare for the worst by opening his mind and ear to this.

So, Mr Governor hear this.

Lest we forget, Fayose in his troubling experience as leader of the poor read out riot act to hunger, unemployment, poverty by appointing Personal Assistant on Stomach Infrastructure. You remember that? Issorai.

His job in a lay man understanding is to ensure open distribution of welfare incentives that will cater for the needy, prepare monthly budgets that diminishes stomach groaning demands of electorate. Part of the duty, does not also secluded ensuring leadership reality of encouraging unemployment.

Certainly yes! Ok, in-depth explanation of how the monthly satisfaction of jobless youth and aged citizens that couldn't fend for themselves will be met will do under a government that have no blue/white paper programme for tackling unemployment.
It will attracts self reliance on government.

In view, the people had elected the government that will only show them where there food dwells and breeds at their respective comfort zones without transitional agenda of ensuring these fraction of Ekiti population does not only get empowered but also take others out of poverty.

What Governor Fayose simply promises is definitely an even distribution of wealth to a certain class of people and not the generality of people that makes the 3million plus population. This is apparently below naivety. The vision of those that fought for the liberation and independence of Ekiti, in a man like late Prof Sam Aluko, Baba Afe Babalola, the Osuntokuns to mention few is challenged.

This is the question. What happened to those that won't  drink because Nigerians are still inseparable of religion. Infact, our faith and belief remain a penchant. By this faith, we were made to understand that "Alcohol is forbids. This isn't a challenge or confrontation to those that drinks. But, how does encouraging street drunks foster workable relationship with the people. Oh! To get the best sellable policy that will revived the denigrated industry or to get those ideas humpty-dumpty.

Fayose must have forgotten he is now the Governor of over 3.5million Ekitis home and abroad. The truth is, I never thought I would have to remind Fayose and our people what leadership and governance stands for.

Here was an elected leader in that same Ekiti. He got to office in an overwhelming reception. Brushed of euphoria of office and at the same time of Fayose. He had set up a committee on Education Summit. First, the committee was to drive his education reform in the state considering the token relief from federal allocation and having three state institutions on state feeder.

Kayode Fayemi dad also within two weeks, ordered downward review of tuition fee from an astronomical increase to #50,000.

Upon assuming leadership of the state, his administration launched a mission statement, tagged 'Collective Rescue Mission.' That was the bedrock on which Fayemi's government transformed Ekiti. Triggered by the struggle for survival of our democracy and the need to ensure its proficiency, Fayemi had rolled up an 8-point Agenda which centres around Governance, Infrastructural Development, Modernising Agriculture, Education and Human Capital
Development, Health Care Services, Industrial Development, Tourism Development, and Gender Equality and Woman Empowerment.

This, political subordinates of Mr Fayose ought to have reminded him if he so wish to surpass Fayemi's academic and leadership success.  Sad, no one, not even Gov Fayose himself considered setting an agenda for himself in and out of the 48months, and yet, come some contracted populace of those who prides themselves in dishonesty, corruption, shop- make I shop perception singing his name to lone places.

At the dawn of the two weeks, Your Excellency Ayodele Fayose be remembered that your predecessor had registered his name in gold by pursuing his agenda with vigour. Governance had started setting a clear pace. The template,” of Mr Governor position on youth empowerment which is widely regarded as the best Ekiti has ever witnessed, addressed more of stomach infrastructure through youth engagement and empowerment of over 5,000 youths.

Mr Governor, May I also remind you, that your predecessors that has occupied that office had never disappointed the public and bureau of public procurement declaring their assets. Former Governor Fayemi declared Seven Hundred and Fifty Million Naira assets, and his late Deputy declared about 2billion.

Mr Governor, your people demand to know your worth. What is your asset?

These long essay of mine is not to faint your languish morale. It is aimed at drawing your attention to it because I know you are far from been the man of the people, driven by the people, listening to the people except those that would attracts you personal gains.

Mr Governor, your people demand to know what you plan for them. Not just a weekend take home of green or anything in bottle.

Ekiti people deserve better not worst. Be guided by the last wisdom.

You have started on a wrong note that will spell doom. Promote ills of political practices that is fast becoming the acceptable tradition of getting peoples endorsement and applause. Isn't that what you represent?

At the expense of their democratic rights, service and transformation that could wholesomely make future generation after generation confident of economic and social cultural stability which will put every home at vantage position at ensuring food gets to table at normal 8am, 2pm and 8pm to completes the square meal.

Get this to pecking order! These are what your people needs not an executive beer parlour jamboree that won't transform lives but worsen it.

Be informed Oga Gomina!
