the Ondo North Senatorial district being the point of project
execution. Primary school pupils across all local governments in the
Ondo North Senatorial District converged at victory college
Ikare-akoko, Ondo State. Accreditation began at 8:30 am prompt as
scheduled. The accreditation process involved ascertaining the age of
each contestant as there is an age limit for both the primary and
secondary categories. This accreditation was done by checking through
the appropriately filled bio-data forms having each contestant's birth
certificate attached to it. Any contestant who did not have either
the bio-data form or the birth certificate was instantly
disqualified. At the end of the accreditation, only one student was
disqualified due to being over aged for the primary category. The age
limit for the primary category is seven (7) to eleven (11) years and
for the secondary, eleven (11) to fifteen (15) years.
The number of pupils that got accredited for the competition that day
was ninety three (93). There were also teachers, pupils and even some
parents in attendance. They were all there to watch their wards
compete. In all, we had 74 people seated as audience. After five (5)
rounds which brought an end to the stiffly contested competition,
sixteen (16) pupils emerged as the zonal champions and qualified for
the grand finale billed for 10th of June, 2014. Certificates of
participation were given out to all participants and medals were given
to zonal champions. Joy filled the hearts of the champions as their
teachers and friends were on hand to rejoice with them.
GRAND FINALE DETAILS
One state, three senatorial districts, eighteen local governments. One
hundred and forty three (143) schools, four hundred and nine (409)
students. Forty four (44) zonal winners emerged from the secondary
category, forty six (46) zonal winners emerged from the primary
category and they are billed to compete come 10th of June, 2014 which
is the date set aside as the Grand Finale.
Three state champions will emerge from the primary and secondary
categories respectively.
