The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, on Friday, said the State has lost a great illustrious son and a rare gem in person of the late Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Samuel Adesina who died of cancer of urinary bladder on February 25, 2014.
The Governor said this at the funeral service for the late Speaker at his Oniparaga, in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Mimiko described the deceased as a man who believed in serving his people passionately and with an avowed commitment to attract maximum dividend of democracy to them through quality representation at the State House of Assembly.
He said Adesina identified with the Caring Heart policy of his administration and believed that the interest of his people would be more protected and better served.
"His style of leadership brought a lot of positive change into the administration of the Assembly and relationship with other arms of government.
"It is on record that he used his position as the Speaker to promote legislative and executive arm of government for good governance of the state," Mimiko said.
The Resident Pastor of Deeper Life Bible Church in the area, Pastor Amos Ifedayo, in his homily, said the deceased was upright in the Lord until his death.
Ifedayo however condoled with the immediate family and assured them of their prayer to the family at all time.
Responding, the first son of the deceased, Samson Adesina appreciated the Ondo State Government and spiritual leader for their uncommon and continuous support in giving his father a befitting burial.
