Mixed reactions have started trailing Monday's visit of Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola to his predecessor in office, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state had divergent views on the meeting held between the duo.
Governor Aregbesola had on Monday night visited Oyinlola at his country home in Okuku, headquarters of Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state and had a closed-door meeting with Oyinlola at night.
The state chapter of the PDP in its reaction to the development, said the APC and Aregbesola had through the visit shown that the PDP had leaders that could be reckoned with.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Bola Ajao in a statement issued in Osogbo yesterday said "the visit of Aregbesola to Oyinlola has shown that Aregbesola does not have absolute faith in his APC platform.
But the APC commended the development, describing it as a good omen for democracy in the country and the state in particular.
The party's Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi in a statement said "the visit is a mark of political maturity by the governor and his predecessor."
He said "These are two leaders in their own right who represent two different political opinions in Osun. They are not at war and if one visit the other at a time of such significance as Easter, then we must commend both leaders because the visit would have been impossible if Oyinlola was not receptive and did not show understanding."
