2015: NANS advocates violence-free elections

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has implored Nigerian students and youths to shun any form of anti-social activities before, during and after the 2015 General Elections.

NANS in a statement issued in Akure at the weekend by its National Financial Secretary, Timileyin Ayenuro, also called on the students not to allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous politicians to cause mayhem in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun States, which hold later this year.

Ayenuro said, "It is imperative for students and youths to abstain from any form of electoral violence and misconduct and be good ambassadors for a free and fair election in their respective states and locality."

The apex body of Nigerian students also called upon political parties in the country "to consider adopting youths within the age range 18-45 in their forthcoming primary election to various political offices in the country," saying the fact that this country needs youth leaders cannot be overemphazised.

NANS also charged all political parties and politicians to promote peace and shun electoral misconduct ahead of the 2015 general elections.
