Elizade University gives N8m scholarship to best students

Management of the Elizade Private University (EPU), Ilara Mokin in
Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State has presented scholarship
awards worth N8 million to five students who distinguished themselves
in their various courses.

The beneficiaries are Ezeji Daniel Onyekachi, Olatunde Mary Omojolola,
Falodun Oyinkansola, Oladapo Ogunmoriyele and Adhuze Oluwadamiloola.

They received N1.6 million cash each covering their tuition fees for
the next three years.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof.
Valentine Aletor said the institution was aiming at becoming a citadel
of learning with the best traditions in the production of
self-reliant, globally competitive graduates imbued with requisite
skills.

He said the university was relying on competencies and the ability to
be key players in the nation's quest for socio-economic and
technological developments.

Prof. Aletor who spoke on behalf of the university's founder, Chief
Michael Ade Ojo said the scholarship award was basically dedicated to
academic and moral excellence.

According to the VC who resumed office on December 1, 2012, the
institution started with 13 courses while the academic session
commenced on January 6.

He, however, disclosed that additional 10 courses have been approved
by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the institution,
adding that law and agriculture courses were on the pipeline.

Some of the new courses according to him are,
biotechnology,environmental management and toxicology, applied
geophysics, physics with electronics, mass comunication, automotive
engineering, industrial and production engineering, performing and
film arts, computer engineering among others.

The Vice Chancellor said the institution was also partnering with
Toyota South Africa and Shenkar Arts and Design in Israel to boost its
automotive engineering skills.

He said the vision of the University was to build students that would
be using their knowledge, stressing that the authority of the
institution would fix the students for internship in September
according to their areas of courses.

His words: "We are so committed to moral and academic excellence; we
want to continuously exhibit moral standards in the society and this
we will vigorously pursue; we are preparing to turn this institution
to 'Havard University' in Africa".

The University's Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council,
Omololu Adegbenro said Elizade university's learning environment
comprised of state-of-the-art architecture and infrastructural
facilities as well as teaching equipment ranked at par with those
educational institutions in more developed countries.

Adegbenro commended the founder of the university, Chif Ade Ojo for
his vision in establishing higher institution where learning is
self-centered and conducted with best practices.
