We will make Ondo world tourists centre – Mimiko

Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has said that his administration will leverage on the available natural resources that are abound in the state to to ensure that the State becomes World Tourists Centre.

 

The Governor disclosed this during an inspection tour of modernization works on facilities at the Idanre Hills Tourists Centre in Idanre Local Government Area of the State, ahead of this year's edition of MARE festival.

 

Mimiko, who said that his government has invested heavily on infrastructural development across the state and security to achieve the prevailing peace in the state, said all the paraphernalia required to attain this status had already been acquired by his government.

 

Governor Mimiko, who was shown round the facilities already in place at the Tourists Centre by his Special Adviser on Tourism, Dr Wanle Akinboboye, expressed satisfaction with the spate of work on facilities which include accommodation structures, relaxation points and other beautiful structures that could house those who visit the Idanre Hills.

 

He said that his administration was working towards ensuring that the International Event Centre in Akure and the Golf Course at Atosin, Idanre were ready for commissioning to further make the Tourists Centre attractive to people all over the world.

 

While saying that the development will in no small measure boost the socio-economic status of the ancient town of Idanre and the Ondo State at large, the Governor urged the people of Idanre to cooperate with the state government and give it maximum support in its quest to bring rapid transformation to the town.

 

Mimiko noted that everything possible will be done to actualize his dream in making the annual MARE FESTIVAL a cynosure of all eyes where Tourists from all over world will choose to visit.
