"This is exactly the case and problem with Nigeria. Even though Nigeria has many polytechnics that produce this middle level manpower, its economy has refused to grow."

He attributed it to the disparity and controversy between the HND and Bachelors degree."

In his presentation, the Commissioner for Information and Ethical Orientation, Mr. Hamza Mohammed, said for a nation to attain national development and self-reliance the need for technical education is very important, sighting an insight on Pakistan, Singapore and Indonesia whose attached premium to technical education in the early 80's.

He added that for Nigeria to develop topmost priority ought to be given to technical education.

"It must be stated for the records that a renewed effort is being made to resuscitate the decaying technical education in some states of the federation but inadequate power supply continues to pose serious challenges to its success," he lamented.
