Mimiko to commission 16 new mega schools

As part of efforts to consolidate on its initial success in bridging the gap between the children of the rich and the poor in the area of providing qualitative education, the Ondo state government has revealed that 16 more Mega schools would be inaugurated by the state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko within the next three weeks.

 

 

A check at the State Ministry of Education revealed that Forty-eight of the schools are being constructed at the moment, out of which 16 should be ready for Commissioning in three weeks, while it was also revealed that contractors handling the projects have embarked on the last phase which is the supply of the furniture.

 

The government said it has also embarked on the building of Sub-urban Primary School at Irese in Ifedore Local government, which will soon be completed and will be replicated in all the local governments in the state.

 

The government said its vision is to take basic education to a high level through qualitative education and ensure that it achieves the MDGs target on Universal Basic Education.

 

The state government also maintained that it would not compromise its determination to bridge the gap between children of the rich and the poor in terms of having a level playing ground of good and qualitative education as well as effective teaching and learning.

 

The concept of Mega School, according to the government, has started yielding desired results as shown in the various competitions attended by the pupils, informing that the intervention has brought about significant increase in the enrollment of pupils into public schools compared to what it used to be.

 

The Ondo State Government has also embarked on the renovation of existing structures in primary schools across the state to ensure that they are of standard pending the time mega school structure will get to such schools
