Councillors suspend Kogi LG boss

THE crisis of confidence between the chairman of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Muhammed Ali and councillors in the council has taken another dimension, as the lawmakers, on Wednesday, suspended the chairman over alleged misconduct.

The lawmakers, in a statement signed by 10 out of 11 councillors in the local government, stated that  "consequent upon the resolution of the council passed on July 8, 2014, the chairman is hereby suspended, pending the conclusion of an investigation into his misconduct."

The statement, signed by the council leader, Hassan Olije and nine others, said the outcome of the investigation would be made known as soon as it was concluded

It is recalled that there was free-for-all in the council on Tuesday, as armed thugs allegedly sponsored by the executive arm of the council invaded its legislative chambers, while the councillors were holding plenary.

Some of the councillors were reported to have sustained varying degrees of injury in the ensuing melee.
