Former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, is set to formally declare his political ambition to return to the Agodi Government House, Ibadan, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the Sallah celebration, the Nigerian Tribune has learnt.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that arrangements needed to ensure the success of the exercise, which is being slated for Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were nearing conclusion stage.

According to a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, invitation letters to those expected at the formal declaration, including key party chieftains from within and outside the states, as well as federal level will be issued any moment from now.

"Plans for formal declaration were at advanced stage. I can tell you that it will be after Sallah celebration, but I can't tell you the precise date," a source said.

"It is even clear that he is coming back. He has been involved in series of meeting with stakeholders and do you know what? His ambition has been welcomed and also enjoys blessings of many, most especially those who were instrumental to his exit from Government House in Agodi in 2011," said another source.

Before now, loads of posters of the former governor have heralded his resolve to take a shot again at the governorship seat of the state.

Many of the posters can easily be found on the walls lining major cities and towns in the state.

The former governor, who remains a strong factor in Oyo politics, in a recent interview he granted to a national daily (not Nigerian Tribune) was quoted to have said that, "I am thinking of coming back, I don't think anything is wrong with that. I am giving it a very serious consideration and I will soon come back to the race."

While speaking on his chances, Chief Alao-Akala said, "My chances are very bright, considering my track records. They have tried me before, they are trying another person now, and if you do analysis or comparison between the two of us, I will be rated higher than the other person."
