Good morning: Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. Suspected Boko Haram gunmen on Wednesday bombed a police station, a bank and a Sharia Court in Gwaram Sabuwa, Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, killing seven policemen and a civilian guard. The bomb also injured four other persons. Report says the attack occurred between 1am and 2am.

2. The Senate on Wednesday, passed the 2014 budget and raised the total figure from the N4.642tn submitted by President Goodluck Jonathan to N4.695tn.

3. A jobless Engineering graduate of Ekiti State University, Mr. Sunday Omotayo's attempt to commit suicide has been foiled by the Police. The incident happened on Wednesday at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, when the frustrated Sunday deliberately jumped out of a speeding Toyota Hiace bus, hoping that he would be crushed to death by other vehicles. Sunday who was rescued by the police said he was tired of life as he has been searching for a job since he graduated 10 years ago.

4. Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode has debunked media speculation that he has defected to the APC. Kayode who said he was still a member of the APC, disclosed that he would officially let Nigerians know if he must defect. He said his statement after the meeting with the President did not show that he has defected and must not be misinterpreted. He said it was his right to see the President regardless of his political ideology.

5. The Draft of the National Tobacco bill, 2014 has been approved by the Federal government and may soon be sent to the National Assembly for onward consideration and promulgation. The draft if passed into law will punish public smoker as they will serve 6 years in prison or pay a fine of N50,000. Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the FEC meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

6. There was a massive defection of APC members to PDP in Edo state yesterday when Gov. Adams Oshiomhole's aide, Mr Agharese Idubor, led about 150 registered members of the APC in Benin to the PDP.

7. President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim, and the Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Boni Aji, to set up a committee that would implement the White Paper on the report of the Presidential Committee on Restructuring and Rationalisation of the Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and agencies. This was disclosed by the
Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

8.The Department of State Service, DSS arrested and interrogated a sub-editor with The Sun Newspaper, Mr Iheanacho Nwosu, over a story published in the paper regarding a physical brawl between a police man and an SSS official at the ongoing National Confab. Report says Iheanacho was released after 30 minutes.

9. PDP governors, who met in Dutse, Jigawa State, Tuesday night under the aegis of PDP Governors' Forum had advised the House of Representatives to urgently declare the seat of the 37 members of the Party who defected to APC vacant, if they remain adamant as APC members.

10. The Chairman, NFF Publicity Committee, Emeka Inyama has disclosed that all disagreements between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi have been amicably resolved. He further restated NFF's confidence in Keshi, saying that the body has no intention of hiring another coach for the world cup.
