The parents of a three-year-old girl rescued from the site of the collapsed Synagogue Church building in Ikotun, Lagos State are yet to be found.

The girl, who is currently receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, is yet to be claimed by her parents or any guardian.

The Consultant and Head, Surgical Emergency Department of the Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Mustapha, told our correspondent when she visited the hospital on Monday that though the girl was fit to be discharged, she cannot go home as her parents or any guardian was yet to come and claim her.

He noted that they were yet to get basic information from the little girl, which would have helped social welfare workers at the hospital to trace her parent's whereabouts.

Mustapha said the other victim, a male, who sustained some bruises on the head and arm was also fit to be discharged soon.

He said, "The two victims of the collapsed building are responding well to treatment and will be discharged soon. Both sustained minor injuries including bruises, but we have been able to treat and dress their wounds. One of the victims, a child will be discharged today, but we cannot find her parents.

"We are hoping that any parent or relative looking for their child will come to LASUTH. For now, she is stable and she is even good to go home, but we can't discharge her till we have a guardian or her parents and they should come with proof."

The other survivor, who refused to give his name, told our correspondent that he had come to visit a friend at the Guest House on Friday before the building collapsed.
