The candidate of the Labour Party in the June 21 Ekiti Governorship election and member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, has signaled that he might join the All Progressives Congress or the Peoples Democratic Party.

He revealed that he had been under intense pressure from both parties ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Bamidele stated this in Ekiti on Monday while addressing journalists on the outcome of the consultation meeting he held with the leadership of his party to discuss the way forward.

He defected to the LP last year September, following irreconcilable differences with Governor Kayode Fayemi,

The federal lawmaker, who disclosed that he would contest for political position in 2015, added that his party had set up an 11-man committee to study the possibility of reaching a good working relationship with either of the political parties.

Bamidele said, "We have become beautiful brides because of the kind of manifesto we presented while campaigning for the June 21 election. So, any party that has the interest of the people at heart will like to work with us on the basis of what we have, which we are ideologically and emotionally attached to."

Bamidele, who said he was ready to work with anybody in the overriding interest of the people, however, kept mum on what political office he would be vying for and the platform.

He said, "Ayodele Fayose, as governor-elect, has indicated interest to work with me. He had never hidden that fact. He had visited me personally and he has been talking to us.

"Even the APC had also been reaching out, seeking genuine reconciliation for us to come back and rebuild the party. They are not only making rapproachement to me alone, but to every member of the party, even at the local level. So, this goes beyond my own personal opinion. It is a collective thing.

"But I want to state here that we will not compromise because the LP leaders have not come to conclusion to merge with any political party in Ekiti. But whatever step we are going to take will be in overall interest of the populace."

He charged members of the party with political ambitions to begin to network with other political parties for the realisation of their dreams.
