Fayemi appoints councils caretaker chairmen

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has approved the appointment of caretaker chairmen for the existing and newly created councils in the state.

According to a press release on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, the new chairmen would be sworn-in on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

Fayemi had on July 30 endorsed the bill passed by the State House of Assembly on the creation of additional 19 Local Government Council Areas.

The new LGCAs which will still be referred to as Local Council Development Areas pending final approval by the National Assembly were created from 12 of the existing 16 Local Government Areas, excluding Ise-Orun, Emure, Ilejemeje and Efon.

The number increased by one from the proposed 18 councils after the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission submitted the results of referendum to the Assembly.

The appointed chairmen are Tope Longe, (Oye LG), Olumide Adeyanju (Ifeloju LCDA), Adeyeye Johnson (Ifesowapo LCDA), Dipo Ogunleye (Efon L.G), Tope Ogunleye (Ilejemeje L.G), Aribasoye Adeoye (Ajoni LCDA), Akinwale Alebiosu (Ero LCDA), Sina Ogunleye (Ifedara LCDA), Kareem Agunbiade (Ekiti West L.G) and Ayodeji Ajayi (Ise/Orun LCDA). They also include S.F. Adewale (Emure L.G), Olumide Fadipe (Isokan LCDA), Ojo Atibioke (Irewole LCDA), Mrs. Remi Balogun (Irede LCDA), Dayo Ajayi (Ijero L.G), Azeez Awolokun (Irepodun/Ifelodu L.G), Gbenga Omole (Ikere West LCDA), Femi Ayodele (Ikere L.G), Rotimi Afolabi (Ido/Osi L.G) and Bayo Akerele (Araromi LCDA) among others.
