The Spokesperson of Police Command in Rivers, Muhammad Ahmad, said in Port Harcourt that investigation into the abduction was ongoing.
"Our detectives from anti-kidnap unit and State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, are on top of the incident to ensure that the legislator is freed unharmed", Mr. Ahmad said.
He explained that Mr. Chioma was kidnapped on Tuesday, July 8, in Diobu Area of Port Harcourt and taken to unknown destination.
The victim is a member of All Progressives Congress, APC, and represents Etche Constituency in the State Assembly.
