Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. Report says over 100 people were killed in the Friday early morning attack by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno village of Damboa. Relatively, the terrorists as a result of their victory has hoisted a black and white flag in the village as they attacked again on Saturday. It was further reported that the Military could not withstand weapons of the insurgents and have deserted the village.

2. The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has expressed fear over engaging Governor Rauf Aregbesola in a public debate, stating that he may be endangering his life by doing so. He said that even though he was ready for the debate, he should be assured that Aregbesola and his APC thugs would not assault him.

3. As tension continues to build over the continuous impeachment of APC Governors in states dominated by the PDP lawmakers, the APC has vowed to use all legal means to stop further impeachment of its members and to also seek redress over the ones impeached already. The APC Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed had disclosed.

4. Report from Benue state says scores of people were injured in three villages of Owukpa community in Ogbadibo Local Government Area as Fulani herdsmen attacked villagers over request by some community youth that the herdsmen leave the community. Eyewitnesses say property worth millions of naira were destroyed in the attack that occurred in Ubafu, Atamaka and Umufu.

5. Police in Imo state has uncovered an 8 bedroom flat allegedly belonging to some kidnappers in Umuchima Village, Okwu Autonomous Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the State. The underground building, according to report was used by suspected kidnappers to harbour their victims. The State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, made the disclosure while parading the suspects arrested in connection with the building.

6. The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has advised Osun people to reject the alleged expired rice being distributed by the PDP in the state. The party is accusing the Peoples Democratic Party of collaborating with the Nigeria Customs Service to bribe voters in the state with expired rice ahead of the August 9 governorship election. The Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the APC in Osun State, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, said this in a statement on Saturday.

7. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has said that despite the impeachment of Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state, the door was open for him to return to the party. The party statement came through the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Taofik Gani who said Nyako was a thorough political leader until he got himself into the web of the APC, thereby losing his prestige.

8. An Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, whose name was not made public, but attached to Ilu-Titun Divisional Headquarters, in Okitipupa council area of Ondo State reportedly died while having sex with a woman allegedly laced with the dreaded 'thunder bolt' (magun). Report says the two had been making love for long, but event turned around on the fateful day as the man collapsed midnight while having sex with the woman.

9. Contrary to reports that there was a bomb blast in Ogurute, Igboeze North LGA of Enugu state on Saturday, Police in Enugu state have said there was no such incident, and have termed the rumour as unfounded. The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the police spokesman in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP.

10. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu' azu has accused the APC of patronizing falsehood, having said that there was an ongoing crisis in the party's National Working Committee (NWC). Mu' azu said nothing of such has happened since he became the National Chairman of the party. He said the false report was a strategy put in place by the APC to win Osun state election.
