Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. The All Progressives Congress, APC in a statement through its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said it was callous and insensitive for President Jonathan's campaign team, GEJite to have commenced campaign for the 2015 election when over 200 schoolchildren are being held in Sambisa forest. The APC said that the development shows that the President values his return to office than the safety and security of Nigerians.

2. A top security meeting was held in Abuja yesterday when the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar and other top Police Chiefs, yesterday, met at the Police Headquarters to brainstorm on how to tackle the rising insecurity in various parts of the country.
In attendance were Zonal Commanders and Commissioners of Police. The main aim was to address the menace of farmers/ herders clash in Nigeria as well as provide security for 2015 election.

3.  The Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State, yesterday announced its withdrawal from the from the ongoing national strike of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP. The Board and Governing Council of the school have announced the immediate reopening of the school. The polytechnic Registrar, Mr. Tony Nwaokolbia directed students to return to school immediately, stating that the suspended 2012/2013 second semester examinations and lectures for fresh students will commence on Monday, July 7, 2014.

4. A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Momoh Abdul-Rasak, has cried out over the alleged forgery of his signature  by the All Progressives Congress, APC, legislators in a petition the party used to impeach Mr. Festus Ebea as Deputy Speaker. Momoh said he never attended the meeting where the decision to impeach the Deputy Speaker was taken, wondering why his signature was found in the petition.

5. The National Conference has recommended the creation of 18 additional states in the country. The recommended states include ; Aba, to be carved out of the present Abia State; Katagum, from Bauchi State; Ijebu, from Ogun State; Amana, from former Sardauna Province; Apa, from Benue State; Anioma, from Delta State, Savannah, from Borno State; and Etiti, from South-East. Also to be created are Njaba/Anim, from Anambra and Imo states; Gurara, from Kaduna State; Ghari, from Kano State; Adada, New Oyo from Oyo State; Orachi, from Rivers State; Ogoja, from Cross River State; and Kainji, from Kebbi and Niger states. Two other states, one each from the South-East and South-West zones have not been named yet.

6. In an interview with Christine Amanpour, Nigerian Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala  had admitted that the Nigerian government did not adequately communicate with the press about the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram. Iweala was of the view that the government was making effort in all fronts to ensure the girls are released but has kept the details away from the press, leading to so much misconception on whether efforts were being made at all.

7. Second Republic Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa has stated that President Goodluck Jonathan's ineptitude has affected the entire country, particularly, having failed to release the over 200 schoolgirls of Chibok after 80 days of their abduction. Musa was speaking in an interview with the Punch newspaper.

8. An application filed by Adamawa state Governor, Murtala Nyako, stopping the House of Assembly from impeaching him has been thrown out by a High court, sitting in Yola, the state capital. Justice Ambrose Mamadi, who is the acting Chief Judge of the state ruled on the application filed by Kanu Agabi SAN, on behalf of Nyako on Thursday. Mamadi in his ruling argued that the lawmakers did not breach any provisions of Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

9.   The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday stopped forthwith the proposed competency test for teachers in the state. The governor has also recalled the 936 teachers, whose name were deleted from the payroll over certificate discrepancies and age falsification and announced the immediate extension of the relativity allowance to teachers in the state public schools.

10. Stressing on the importance of a healthy society, the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has given automatic employment to over 200 graduating students of the Lagos State College of Health Technology.
The governor, who is the Visitor of the college, made the declaration during his address at the second convocation ceremony of the institution in Yaba, Lagos, on Thursday.
