Some members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly loyal to the new Speaker have raised the alarm over threat to their lives as following the political crisis in the state.

The alarm came barely two days after one of them was abducted by unknown gunmen.

This is coming at a time the people of Ikwo North state constituency have also passed a vote of no confidence on the member representing their constituency, Hon. Sam Nwali.

They argued that their representative does not deserve to serve them any longer because of his role in the impeachment of the former Speaker.

But the lawmakers, who addressed journalists in Abakiliki on Friday, said although the threat was linked with the impeachment of their former speaker, Rt Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku, no amount of threat and intimidation would deter them from stamping their authority.

The 15 members who are loyal to the new Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Helen Nwobasi expressed dismay over the level of desperation currently being displayed by some top politicians in the State.

Speaking, on the matter, the member representing Afikpo South West constituency, Hon. Eni Uduma Chima said that the impeachment remains valid and cannot be upturned.

He said, "We have been receiving threat messages from some top politicians over this matter."

Also, the Speaker, Helen Nwobasi urged Nigerians and Ebonyians not to be deceived by the activities of those members she described as dissidents.

"As a result, any claim by Nwazunku and his few supporters that his impeachment has been or would be reversed should be seen as a political and constitutional impossibility".
