The Federal Capital Territory minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the compulsory retirement of 18 officers for involvement in age falsification and certificate forgery.

The workers were found culpable of the offences during the biometric screening carried out by the FCT Administration on staff data irregularities.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT minister, Mohammad Sule, in Abuja on Sunday, said the interim report of the Implementation Committee submitted by the firm that handled the exercise established and confirmed 18 cases of age falsification and certificate forgery.

It said the minister directed that further clarifications and assessments be carried out on 11 officers with pending remarks and on 59 officers, who were yet to respond to the queries sent to them through their respective secretariats, departments and agencies.

The statement added that the minister had further directed that the Implementation Committee should carry out a thorough certificate verification of all staff employed from 2006 to date, including all certificates acquired from 2006 by serving officers to date.

He instructed that the salaries of 156 officers that were verified and cleared be restored with effect from the date of stoppage of their salaries.
