Ekiti State government has denied the allegation that it has commenced illegal recruitment of 6,000 applicants into the state civil service.

Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Afolabi Ogunlayi, said the Commission was not even planning to recruit.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had accused Governor Kayode Fayemi of planning to embark on massive employment weeks to the end of his tenure.

He said, I want to say that the Civil Service Commission under my leadership is not aware of, is not a party to and is not making any plan and has not requested for or obtained any approval for the appointment of 600; 3,000 or 6,000 applicants as being peddled.

"However, while we are not unmindful of the fact that the present administration is in transit, the Commission still has the powers to carry out the mandates in the areas of appointment, promotion, discipline and transfer of service".

The chairman lamented that out of 7,000 indigenes of the state that applied for recent federal government advertised job vacancies, only three were employed.

He explained that the 334 applicants were recently employed into the service through the rigour of examinations and oral interviews, contrary to insinuation that the exercise was politicised.

Ogunlayi added that 35 persons had benefited from the policy of the state government which gives two per cent employment opportunity to physically challenged with requisite qualifications
