Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Mandafuma village of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, North-East Nigeria, injuring one person and destroyed properties worth millions.

A resident, Malam Usman Fuma told newsmen that the attackers, who stormed the village around 10 pm on Tuesday, opened fire sporadically, burning and setting houses and motorcycles ablaze.

He said "the gunmen, dressed on military uniforms came on motorcycles and pick up vans and started shooting sporadically; although no life was lost, one person was injured; they also set the village ablaze and fled unchallenged".

A security source from the area who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident, saying that it resulted into the destruction of properties worth millions of Naira.

DailyPost recalls that last Sunday, gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terrorists group blew-off a bridge along Maiduguri-Biu road, forcing travelers and other road users, especially big trucks to follow Biu-Gombe-Potiskum road.

Efforts to get the spokesman of the Borno State Police Command, DSP Gideon Jibrin for confirmation proved abortive, as his line was switched off as at the time of filling this report.
