The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to challenge the outcome of the just concluded Ekiti State governorship election in court.

The decision was part of the agenda of a closed door meeting of the party leadership held at Osun State Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, the state capital.

Three governors on the platform of the party attended the meeting which kicked off around 10 p.m. and rounded off in the early hours of Thursday.

The Governors are Babatunde Fashola (SAN) of Lagos State, Rotimi Amaechi, Rivers State, and the host, Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.

Also in attendance were Osun State Deputy Governor, Grace Titilayo Laoye- Tomori, Lai Muhammed, National Publicity Secretary, National Deputy Chairman, Segun Oni, Senator Chris Ngige, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Kawu Baraje, Mallam Nasir Elrufai, among others.

Aside the just concluded Ekiti State governorship election, the forthcoming governorship poll in Osun State and the impeachment process against Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State were also discussed.

Speaking, Oni disclosed that the APC leaders resolved at the meeting to challenge the result of the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State before the court.

"What happened in Ekiti State was a new dimension to election rigging in Nigeria. We are therefore ready to challenge the Ekiti election result in court," he stated.

"We have seen, studied the election outcome and for posterity's sake we know the election is not the will of the people.

"APC is going to defend the constitution of Nigeria and we shall start that with the election in Ekiti State. We won`t allow the election in Osun State to go the same way of Ekiti," he stated.

Also speaking to newsmen, Chris Ngige said the APC was not jittery about the coming election in Osun State, adding that the party would do everything to retain the state.
