Niger State governor, Dr Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu has inaugurated a board of trustees for a N3.3billion Muslim and Christian Centre in the Three Arm Zone, Minna.

Aliyu who inaugurated the board members yesterday in Minna said the move was to create unity among all the people of the state irrespective of their religion.

The centre, conceived by government, is to be built jointly by government and contributions from the public, with the government contributing not less than 45 percent of the total cost.

According to Aliyu, the dis- unity among the two main religions was caused by those who profess religion but do not understand the tenets of the religion.

He stated that the situation has become a serious problem in the country, because some of the  adherents of the religions are actually ignorant of the religions they practised and could easily be hoodwinked into doing things that are aberrations to their religions.

Consequently he disclosed that  the centres would  be used to impact religion knowledge on  believers for them to co exist peacefully

Culled from Leadership
