The convention is slated for May 17 in Abuja.
It is expected to ratify the appointment of Alhaji Adamu Muazu as PDP National Chairman , a constitutional requirement that would also clear the way for full campaign for the 2015 general election.
Muazu was appointed in January by the NEC and his appointment is constitutionally required to be approved by the convention.
Jonathan had on Thursday in Enugu, during the PDP unity rally, stated that he would respond to the calls on him to contest the 2015 presidential election at the appropriate time.
Thisday has however reported that the declaration will take place after the midterm convention, which would be preceded by the South-south unity rally of the party expected to hold in Port Harcourt.
Although, the president has yet publicly disclose his intention, endorsements by some groups, personalities and PDP chieftains is seen as a prelude to his declaration.
